Student Assessment

The Exquisite Learning team recognizes that student assessment is a vital part of a student's learning. We plan to assess students using two methods:

  • student portfolio work
  • student-teacher interviews

Over the course of a semester or a school year, students can pick their best reflection pieces and art work to include in the portfolios. Teachers can then evaluate the portfolios looking for signs of student growth in social and emotional lerning.

In addition to portfolio work, teachers can interview students once a month to see if there are any remarkable changes in social and emotional behavior.

Example questions that can be asked:

Student
Teacher
Who are you today? Has there been an improvement in peer relationships?
Are you the same person every day? Has the student demonstrated a greater understanding of their cognitive abilities?
What do you think about when trying to study something you do not fully understand? Does the student appear more aware of the feelings of his or her peers?
How does trying to understand something hard make you feel? Has Exquisite Learning increased a student's motivation to write or reflect on issues?
How do you feel if you do not understand something?
How might others help you solve a problem?
How could you help someone else with a problem?
