Mission

Exquisite Learning is a process oriented activity/learning space. While engaging with the creative and reflective self-expression activities, and by interacting with the "empathic and intelligent" bots, the user will creatively explore and become aware of their metacognitive and emotional processes. We intend that self-awareness and empathy will be enhanced through activities of expression, reflection, and reasoning. Exquisite Learning is a "thinking/feeling" participatory arts lab for students to explore and learn about themselves - their emotions, values, beliefs; to use thinking and reflection as tools for understanding themselves and others. A primary activity will be creating self-portraits - visual, text-based, or aural, either as individual "journals" or as collaborative projects.

There will be a collaborative art canvas/board in which students can either upload or create their own images. The art and writing boards (the expression boards) will allow both private, individual work and real-time, collaborative interactions. Students can work together to modify or create an original image. In the process, students will keep a private reflection journal in a text box and communicate in a chat box - discussing the processes and ideas they think about and use in the creating their portraits. The expression spaces provide students the opportunity to think and reflect about their visual pieces and in the process, learn to understand and communicate with others on deep levels.
